Lana has a pouty and sultry fullness to her voice and she plumbs the lower registers in a way that most young singers couldn’t even imagine – this is a woman and not a girl singing to you.

‘Ruthless’ is an old fashioned tale of loss and regret and Lana’s performance has all the soul and confidence that a song like it needs and ‘Romance’ lets the older woman advise her younger intende how to treat her in a jazzy and soul style – you get a little shiver down your back listening to that voice instruct you in the ways of lurve – great fun.

‘Ruthless’ grooves along and the band do a good enough job but it is Lana’s voice and the song itself that will turn you on while ‘Romance’ is simply a fun piece that would be great live. (more…)
